WHEELS OF WELLNESS
MOBILE CLINIC
Stratford Medical Centre (SMC) is a Primary Health Care Medical Centre serving the general community with traditional medical care, as well as with a focused program called Wheels Of Wellness (WOW).
The WOW Program is an outreach service that delivers mobile GP and Nurse clinics to Cairns’ most disadvantaged community members including, but not limited to, the homeless, vulnerable, exposed to risk, affected by social disadvantage and otherwise vulnerable individuals.
Our mobile clinics are free and deliver health care through weekly clinics that run from various locations including the street, shelters and homeless camps. The health and service needs of each individual are seen to by our experienced team, which include a nurse, social worker and GP.
We work collaboratively with community services, government organisations other agencies including, but not limited to, Anglicare, Mission Australia and YETI, to provide comprehensive and coordinated care in difficult circumstances and ensure a coordinated approach to patient care and follow up.

CRITERIA & REFERRALS
- People who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
- All WOW services are bulk-billed.
- No ID or paperwork required if don’t have, however, a Medicare card, health care card and or discharge summaries (as well as any other relevant information) should be brought to appointments if possible.
- Clients can be referred to WOW by an agency or simply through self-referral, but an appointment is required.
